Vasylivsky granite deposit, located in the village of Kamyana Gora, Korosten district, Zhytomyr region, is widely known as a source of red medium-grained granite. Vasylivsky granite has gained worldwide fame for its unique properties, which have been appreciated by architects around the world. This material became a symbol of quality back in the Soviet Union and still retains its reputation as a reference decorative and facing stone.
Characteristics of Vasilievsky granite
The uniqueness of Vasilievsky granite is explained not only by its original pattern and colour palette, but also by its optimal physical and mechanical properties:
- Compressive strength - 180-210 MPa.
- Surface abrasion - 0.45-0.48 g/cm².
- Water absorption - 0.1-0.16 %.
Mineral composition
- Potassium feldspar: 35-55 %.
- Plagioclase: 7-22 %.
- Quartz: 20-27 %.
- Biotite: 10 %.
- Other minerals: 5-10 %.
Radiation safety
Vasilievsky granite corresponds to class 1 in terms of radiation characteristics, which makes it absolutely safe for use inside residential premises. Its mineral composition does not contain any substances harmful to human health.

Initially, Vasilievsky granite was used primarily for the creation of monuments, memorial slabs and monuments. Over time, its scope of application has expanded significantly due to advances in stone processing technologies.
