Production history

The Omelyanivka granite deposit dates back to 1940 and is located 0.5 km south of the Omelyanivka railway station in Zhytomyr region. After the end of the Second World War, massive granite mining began here, and the product quickly gained popularity both in Ukraine and abroad. The high quality and decorative properties of Omelyanivka granite made it one of the best facing materials of its time.

Characteristics of Omelyanivsky granite

Omelyanivsky granite is distinguished not only by its durability but also by its unique aesthetic qualities:

  • Colour scheme - From greyish pink to red-orange, with possible brownish tints and black spots.
  • Grain size and mineral composition
    • Quartz: 15-70 %
    • Microcline: 20-80 %
    • Plagioclase: 10-30 %
Physical and mechanical properties
  1. Abrasion resistance - 0.23-0.97 g/cm².
  2. Frost resistance - More than 50 cycles.
  3. Low porosity - 0.31-2.48 %.
  4. Moisture absorption - 0.15-1.03 %.
  5. Bulk weight - 2660 kg/m³.
